Reinosa is one of the most important towns in the interior of the Cantabria region. It’s first mentioned in a document from the beginning of the 11th century, proving that the town can boast a long history, and vestiges of its rich past still exist to this day. One example is the imposing church of San Sebastian, in the centre of the town. Its Baroque style, size and, above all, well-kept and rather beautiful interior are sure to delight. Ready to get the most out of our cheap trips to Reinosa?
Another example of the beautiful architecture of Reinosa is the bridge of Carlos III, which is so named as it was built during the reign of King Carlos III. It crosses the River Ebro, whose source is very close to Reinosa. If you take your camera with you, you’ll be able to immortalise its three spans with brickwork vaults and magnificent stonework.
You won’t want to miss La Casona. The original palace was built in 1788, but after a fire it suffered in 1808, little remained of that project. It was rebuilt at the beginning of the 20th century, respecting the original façade. Today, this beautiful palace serves as a library, an exhibition hall and even a tourist office.
When you want to visit the centre of the town and find out where the locals go, head to Plaza España. This wide, pedestrian square is surrounded by interesting buildings, such as the town hall. You’ll also see several houses with beautiful glass galleries. There’s nothing better than sitting on the terraces of the local bars, soaking up the sunshine, to complete your package deal to Reinosa.
If you're feeling peckish, you can always try the delicious pantortillas, a local speciality. This dessert is made from puff pastry and a layer of caramelised sugar that everyone’s sure to enjoy.
