From spectacular thrill rides to good old-fashioned carousels and dodgems, from big screen cinemas to costumed characters for the kids, Rainbow’s End theme park covers some 9 hectares and is guaranteed fun for the whole family.
Visitors tend to flock to the thrill rides so it’s a good idea to arrive early when the queues are shorter. Take a turn on The Invader roller coaster that runs along 80 metres of track. Or take a ride on the Power Splurge which will spin you in every direction whilst you’re strapped into a chair at the end of a mechanical arm. For a vertical challenge, Fearfall takes you down 18 storeys at a stomach-churning 80 kilometres per hour. Take a trip underground on the Gold Rush ride or enjoy the twists and turns of the Corkscrew rollercoaster.
If you’re taking the whole family, duelling on the water in the Bumper Boats is a lot of fun, or take a thrilling go-kart ride on the tracks. Young children will love Kidz Kingdom, which has been created with the youngest guests in mind.
At Rainbow’s End there are two cinemas, both offering exciting and unique experiences. One is a 3-D cinema showing popular family films throughout the day. The other shows 12-minute films on a 180-degree curving screen, making viewers feel like they're really part of the action.
Open every day through the year besides Christmas Day, the park is usually quieter during school term times. However, some of the park’s amenities are also closed at these times. You can pick up a timetable at the entrance or better still, look online before you visit to see what’s on. Buy a single pass to the park or use your Auckland Multipass which will allow you entry to five of Auckland’s major attractions.
Situated just 20 minutes by car from central Auckland in Manukau, Rainbow’s End is easy to reach by bus and train from the city centre. Free parking is also available on-site.
