Spend some time soaking up the sun at Portorož Beach, a sandy stretch of coastline with a large and clean swimming area. It has a few piers that offer views of the picturesque coast. It is one of the few natural beaches in the region and is a popular spot for locals and visitors alike.
Find a vacant spot in the sand for a picnic with your family. Stretch out and admire the ocean views or play ball games. Cool down with a dip in the sea. Umbrellas and deck chairs are available to rent.
Get snacks and refreshments from one of the many cafés that back on to the beach. Take the kids to the small playground and stop by an ice cream stand. Browse the trinkets and souvenirs in the market. Don’t miss the blazing orange sunset over the waters of the Adriatic Sea.
Stroll down the peaceful beach on a crisp winter’s day, when there are very few crowds. Relax at one of the spas and wellness centers or try your luck at the Casino Portorož at the southern end of the beach.
Experience the regal touch at the Kempinski Palace Portorož, which overlooks the beach. Have lunch at the hotel and relax in its manicured grounds.
Note that lifeguards are on duty in the summer season, which lasts from June to September. The beach is free to access at any time.
Portorož Beach is just to the north of the marina in the southwestern part of the town. Ride a bus to one of the many stops along the main boulevard. Take the free shuttle bus to the Piran resort, just 3 miles (5 kilometres) to the north. If you are driving to the beach, leave the car at the metered parking lot.
