Bahia Rica Was an oasis in Paquera. We stayed for one night and did the bioluminescent tour and Isla Tortuga. The guest house was a rustic sanctuary where you feel one with nature. Lots of monkeys, and beautiful birdwatching. 253 steps down to a secluded beach where we had breakfast and we’re given various choices of cuisine. Isla Tortuga was awesome with Juan as a guide. We saw so many different types of animals, including spider, monkeys, incredible starfish, and sharks. If you have the chance, book a night or several at Bahia Rica.

It’s an eco lodge so know that going in, if that’s what you’re looking for you’ll love it! Great owners and a nice home cooked breakfast in the mornings.

Fabulous
Amazing place! Breakfast was delicious, the owners are lovely, and the bioluminescence tour was my favorite experience from my trip to Costa Rica. This place is the picturesque glamping type of experience (not for anyone high maintenance). You get your basic amenities (bed, toilet/shower, small mini fridge, fan) but there aren't things like a TV, air conditioning, etc. They do have wifi, but it was in the main house and we stayed in the smaller one, which was too far for wifi. We loved our stay at Bahia Rica and 10/10 recommend for fellow adventurers!

The Bioluminescence experience was incredible. However the bed was extremely uncomfortable and made so much noise at the slightest moment. In addition, the price is expensive for the accommodation type. The owners are very friendly and helpful.

We loved our time here! We saw so many different types of animals there was never a dull moment. The food that was cooked for us was amazing and they took our dietary restrictions before cooking our meals. We ran into a few creepy crawlies at night so if you are scared of bugs this might not be the stop for you, though I should be explicit in saying that our room was perfectly clean and we didn't see a single bug in there! Lastly we plan on coming again, but doing more research into what moon phase is going to be happening during our trip. We wanted to do the bioluminescence kayaking your but the moon was too bright.(a slight over simplification).

Wooden cabin in the woods
The property is 1,5 km from the ferrylanding, mostly uphill. Without a car you need to walk or pay the taxidriver whatever he asks (5000 colon, which seemed to be a ripoff for this distance). The little cabin is on a closed private hillside property with a nice secluded beach. The proximity of bioluminescence tours are its advantage. There are howlermonkeys and iguanas and birds around the house. The little wooden cabin has an openair kitchen and a privet outside bathroom. They provide good breakfast with more options. The property has a special laidback, hippie style atmosphere. Downside was that the little cabin and the beach and mainbuilding area was connected with more than 300 steps, and the little cabin gets very hot at nights, the provided fan did not helped. The bed isn't too comfortable and the house is barely bigger than the bed itself, it was hard to squeeze in the two mediumsize backpacks we were travelling with. It coud have been cleaner.
