"Stunning little hidden gem in the middle of the Matera sassi, the spa is among the best spas I have ever been to with a large warm 30 degree cave pool with multiple small pools and jacuzzi jets. There is also another pool with slightly cooler water and jacuzzi beds and then two different temperature saunas, steam room and relaxation beds. There was also drinking water and different healthy teas to choose from in the spa. The hotel rooms are all styled as small 'suites' set into the Matera terraces. Our room was at the top of our terrace which was fantastic as we were right next to a gate to access the street level without needing to go through the hotel. Breakfast was delicious, focaccia, meats, cheeses, cakes, pastries, fruit, juice, cappuccino etc. We didn't use the bar as there were so many bars and lovely restaurants nearby but the bar looked nice. Rooms are beautifully furnished and styled with antique furniture. Some toiletries were provided in the room. Despite being in the old Matera region and very historic feel to the rooms, the shower was very powerful and perfect temperature which is great if you like a strong shower. Matera is the most beautiful place I have ever been to and this hotel was certainly a gorgeous little gem. The staff were lovely and helpful and had good English. Will definitley be returning as soon as possible."

"This was a "blow the budget" trip for me and I was not disappointed. The hotel is built into caves and has fantastic views of the city and over the ford (you can walk over). My room (a cave in itself) was huge, a large jacuzzi in the centre (would likely accommodate 4 people) and a modern wet room at rear, decor and lighting was perfect. The restaurant was also built into cave, was beautiful. Staff eager to assist and pleasant to chat to. Overall, fantastic - 1 minor criticism, the water in jacuzzi was not warm, no doubt refreshing in the sweltering summer but uninviting in a cooler October! Did mention to staff and it was being inspected when I left. Formidable place, thank you. "

"One of our favorite cities and hotels on our Italian vacation. The cave room is beautiful, clean and quiet with modern details. The shower is awesome and heated towel bars were a plus. Breakfast is very nice and they have a bar that opens in the evenings at 5. All is very convenient to walking the sasso. They will arrange for a cab upon arrival or departure if you're taking a bus or train, so reach out as the walk from the main city piazza is far with luggage. Great restaurants nearby."
