Underbar utsikt!
Härligt att bo så högt upp! Utsikten var helt underbar och från vårat rum kunde vi se den underbara naturen! Incheckningen fungerade bra och han som tog emot oss var trevlig ! Han berättade om te odlingarna och visade oss runt! Till Ella är det lite långt att åka men. Vi hade en chaufför så för oss var det inget problem ! En dag åkte vi också tuck tuck från Ella till hotellet! Frukosten är ok om man inte vill ha jättemycket ! Ella är fantastiskt:)

Totally fabulous stay with amazing views
Absolutely fabulous location - not too far from downtown Ella and well worth the trek to the top of the mountain for the fantastic views. The staff was super nice and welcoming, and the room was clean and comfortable. Overall excellent experience.

Property was hard to find in the dark and wet. Narrow muddy tracks, leading to the property. No clear signposting. Arrived in the dark and were told that they only had a single bed available. (We had booked a single and double. They then showed us another room which was Filthy with a broken window and beds not made. They then showed us another room with a double bed which was even dirtier. We declined to stay and requested a refund but were refused. Because we had booked a non-refundable room they declined to refund. We then went to 49 Ella, which was awesome and cheaper. Avoid this property!

The description of the hotel is way better than the reality of the hotel. This place has a lot of potential of being good one day, but currently it is not. It was very dirty and the sheets hadn't been washed in a very long time. I slept fully clothed because I didn't wanted to have any skin contact. There were three rooms in the hotel - all available - still they gave me the only one without a balcony (the view), which is the only valuable of the hotel. I also didn't get my breakfast the second day. The owner has a warm smile all the time, but unfortunately it is not enough for making a good stay.

Inmitten der Natur mit Abstrichen
Piumith, der junge Besitzer, war sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Wie bereits mehrfach erwähnt wurde, organisiert er anstandslos den Shuttle zwischen Ella und der in die Jahre gekommenen und leider etwas ungepflegten Unterkunft (650Rp). Wir wären gern selber etwas mobiler gewesen, aber bedingt durch das abseits gelegene Hotel war dies schwer möglich. Das Frühstück (Obst, Toast, Eivariationen, Marmelade) war völlig in Ordnung. Besser Tee als Kaffee ordern;)

One night to relax with great view.
Superb views but it’s definitely off season and feels a little run down. I’m sure it will pick up again as tourists return. After 2 days in the center, one last night there to relax with the view was great. The simple food was delicious. Nice hospitality. WiFi. No pool or bar as stated on hotels.com though.

This place is amazing. Don’t be put off by the glorified, tiny dirt road that leads to the hotel. It is set on the side of a hill with truly spectacular views of the surrounding hills. My room had a huge balcony overlooking same. The room was fine, the food was typical, but the view is the raison d’etre.

Beautiful room, beautiful view.
Amazing stonework in a beautiful room with an incredible view out the window and off the porch. Extremely pleasant and friendly staff that attend to every need. Highly recommended. The area is gorgeous as well with many things for tourists to do.

Good view but not well-maintained
Beautiful view from the hotel but very far from Ella, so you need to add tuk tuk cost to the booking (around 1500 roopies for up and down). Our room was standard so no view on the moutains. Not well cleaned, terrifying bathroom (dark and cold water), very old buildings (old wood, we could hear clearly our neighboors). The breakfast was classic.

Nous avons séjourné quatre nuits dans cette petite auberge. Le cadre est exceptionnel et la vue magnifique. Un lieu idéal pour profiter au cadre de la beauté des montagnes et pour se reposer de l'effervescence du centre d'Ella. Mais au delà de ça, notre séjour a été rendu mémorable grâce à l'extrême gentillesse de tout le personnel. Le patron et son fils et leur grand sourire francs et pétillants de gentillesse et l'intendant de Maison si drôle, gentil et attachant ont tout fait pour rendre notre séjour agréable et unique. Nous sommes même partis un peu triste de ce petit havre de paix.

Amazing view from the top of hill.
This place is located in the hilly area. If you wish to get there, you need to hire transports. It has an amazing view during the sunrise. We love the misty and cooling weather. The room is a bit small for our liking, however, the fabulous view definitely is big plus.

Ruhig mit grandioser Aussicht
Tolles Hotel, welches sehr abgelegen ist und daher ideal um die Natur zu geniessen. Grandiose Aussicht mit super freundlichen Gastgebern. Wenn ma dieses Hotel bucht muss man sich bewusst sein, dass jeder Weg runter ins Dorf 650 Rupie kostet und 15 Minuten dauert. Es ist jedoch sehr einfach ein Taxi zu bekommen, denn der Sohn des Besitzers hat uns hedes mal runtergefahren und ist uns hole gekommen wenn wir eine SMS gesendet haben. Für uns war es pefekt, wir konnten so die Natur von Ella mehr geniessen als mit einem Hotel in der stark befahrenen City. Die Wäsche konnten wir auch zum waschen geben und das ganze Personal war mega nett.

This family (very friendly) owned and built mini hotel was definitely worth the winding dirt track to reach journey. Perched high above the valley overlooking farms and forests with views to Little Adams Peak took one's breath away. Quiet and peaceful set in natures domain. Comfortable rooms with views were clean tidy and spacious. Home cooked meals were a delight and served at our convenience. Incredibly good value and homely comfort. Two more rooms and a large rooftop family villa on the mountaintop are currently under construction, these will be complimented by new swimming pools in the near future.

We spent one night here. The room was comfortable and we were served an excellent home-cooked curry for dinner. The staff were really helpful, we had an early start and they packed us a box of pancakes for our journey.

Best place to stay in Ella
We (a couple) stayed at Ornate View for three nights. After four weeks of travelling around Sri Lanka this was by far the best place we have stayed. We had the balcony room which had an incredible 180 view of the hillsides of Ella. It was definitely worth waking up at 6am to watch the sunrise over the hills. We really liked the authentic and funky waterfall bathroom, the room was well equipped and had everything you needed for a comfortable stay (the room also had excellent WiFi). The hotel also sorted us a scooter to rent for the few days that we stayed there that was extremely handy. The hotel manager and his staff (Danny the cook and Piumith) made us feel completely at home. They were extremely helpful, friendly and gave us a lot of good tips about Ella and the surroundings. We had many great conversations late into the evening with the staff. The food was by far the best we have had out of all the places that we have stayed. Danny is an extremely creative cook, he made us everyday a different tasty breakfast and dinner on the four days that we stayed. Overall we had an amazing time there and we left the place feeling we had made great friends. Lastly we highly recommend anybody traveling to Ella to stay in this lovely Hotel.

Best stay in ELLA
This was the most scenic stay of our whole trip! Beautifully located up in the mountains with a view over rice fields and the jungle (a tea plantation was close by too). The staff was absolutely amazing and helpful! They organized a special BBQ for us as well as a driver for our continuous travels. We want to come back for sure :) - Roy & Janina

Fabulous views at a knockdown price
Wonderfully located small hotel set in the forested hillside near Ella. The views are absolutely mindblowing and it’s so peaceful and tranquil. The staff are kind and only too willing to help and the food is excellent. Coconut pancakes for breakfast were a real treat!
