The property is very convenient, in the heart of the downtown and the staff is very good. However it does have many of the downsides of an old hotel, such as thin walls and very small bathrooms.

We love the history of the place and the setting along Park Avenue in Winter Park. The hotel is definitely dated without all the modern conveniences, but frankly that's what we liked because we wanted to see and appreciate the historical nature of this hotel.

I stayed at the hotel with 3 friends. We had 2 balcony suites. The staff were wonderful, welcoming and ready to help. The balcony over the main street was truly one of the best assets for the hotel. We would have appreciated a coffee maker in the room rather than having to get dressed to go down to the lobby in the morning. Our room smelled a bit musty when the outside door was left closed.

We like the convenience to the Amtrak station and that it's a little more 'quaint' however with that comes the downside. It's an old hotel and doesn't appear to have been upgraded. The blinds were broken in our room, I was unable to use the tub vs. shower as the tub downspout did not work, and we could not watch tv from the bed. The concierge service was appreciated and we did ask for ice however it would be nice to have the ability to retrieve that on our own. As a note, an older hotel in San Francisco that also had a 2nd floor provided free continental breakfast on a cart on the floor to keep guests from having to go downstairs. It was simple such as muffins, croissants, fruits, coffee and juice but was a nice touch. For the cost of nightly stays, that would be an added benefit and low cost to the hotel itself.

I do not know how to adequately rate this on the whole. I am 67 and have lodged in many hotels and motels back as far as I can remember. The staff especially Pia was excellent. The building provided safety during hurricane Milton. The eyewash appeal hides the not so subtle defects the place has. It is in serious need of an overhaul aesthetic and physically. Creaking bedframe, wood split on desk drawer, creaking floorboards, toilet height that accommodates a elementary school child. No mini fridge, no microwave, no continental breakfast. Absolutely stunning hotel, wish I could’ve stayed longer! Staff was friendly & accommodating, it felt like a home away from home. They offer earplugs for those busy Saturday nights, there’s a wine shop right below the hotel, lots of fantastic spots to eat and shop. First time for me in WP; I hope I can return to the Park Plaza for many years to come. My ONLY “complaint” - and remember this building is old! There were ants in the bathroom of the room I stayed in; I’m sure getting in from the skylight & trees above. Some arborists would be happy to help trim the branches away from the roof so that wouldn’t be an issue any longer :) Highly recommend; such a pleasant experience for me.

Unpleasant hotel
We were extremely excited to stay at this hotel for a short vacation as the first trip after our twins were in the Nicu; however our excitement was quickly taken away when we were met with some of the staff at this hotel. Many of the staff were wonderful but unfortunately, we had the displeasure of encountering Cheryl and Pat. Both employees did not greet you upon entering the lobby and had headphones in (while watching tv and doing homework) to the point that we had to repeat ourselves multiple times when asking a question. We also had a stroller that would not fit through the front door without opening the second door that was latched and not once were we offered assistance in opening the latched, 100 year old door. They then gave us a “lesson” on how to properly close the door after we left with the stroller and blamed us for a guest not being able to get in the night prior. Had Cheryl and pat not had their headphones in, I’m sure they would have heard the guest asking for assistance with the jammed door. In addition, they state they are a dog friendly hotel but when our little one who is 15 pounds and lovely barked a couple times, they called us back from dinner and gave us a hard time. When we arrived back to the hotel 10 minutes later, she was asleep in the room. Even though some of the staff offered for us to leave her there the next day, we felt forced to put our girl in a doggy dog care the next day knowing Cheryl and pat were there that night and we did not trust
