Visit the Netherlands’ second largest province and combine city trips with a day in Belgium. Enjoy the conviviality typical of Brabant.

Whether you like city trips, beautiful castles or nature, North Brabant has it all. You're also very close to one of the most popular theme parks, which is perfect for a day out with the kids.

North Brabant's rich history is still visible in the numerous city walls, museums and countless castles. The province, which has been part of the Netherlands for the last 200 years, has had several names and borders over the centuries.

History buffs will be impressed by North Brabant's old cities, buildings and castles of which one of the most beautiful examples is the 12th-century Kasteel Heeswijk, complete with towers, moat and drawbridge. The gorgeous Markiezenhof, a late Gothic hôtel particulier in Bergen op Zoom is well worth visiting. Today it’s home to a museum about the marquesses.

Cities such as Breda and of course the capital of the province, 's-Hertogenbosch, are also absolute musts. Take in the Burgundian atmosphere, sit at a sidewalk café and admire St-John's Cathedral.

Nature lovers will get a real thrill out of National Park De Biesbosch in the west of the province. Discover the nature on foot, by boat or by bicycle and spot wildlife such as foxes, deer and beavers. Take the kids to one of the most popular theme parks in the Netherlands: Efteling! Ride the roller coaster and spend time in the Fairy Tale Forest, or have your photo taken with the Efteling's two mascots, Pardoes and Pardijn.

North Brabant has a good road system, making everything easy to reach by car. If you're travelling by public transport, most of the cities and towns have train stations. The villages can be reached by bus or bicycle of course.

If you’re travelling by public transport, you can easily get to cities such as Den Bosch ('s-Hertogenbosch), Breda, Oss and Tilburg by train, although you may have to change trains several times depending on where you’re coming from. If you're travelling by car through the Eurotunnel or by on the ferry, the journey will take between 3.5 and 4.5 hours. You can also fly into Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Brussels or Antwerp and take the train from there or hire a car.

Discover the history, nature and activities of the Burgundian and convivial province of North Brabant. You'll love it!
