The first room we got was ok ... lock did not work and the shower setup caused water to get on the bathroom floor. Once you walk out of the side street, you can find all the shops for almost anything you need - food, clothes, bar, pharmacy etc. The Le Marais area is really one of the nicer neighbourhood in Paris.
