We had an amazing few days at Icena. The accommodation was fabulous, plenty of space, well equipped & cosy & Fiona so friendly & obliging. The farm is close to hiking & bike trails, stunning beaches beautiful rural scenery & quirky towns. We shall definitely return!
Lush green pastures and pine trees offset this hidden gem of the North East. Staying in Room 5 of the Shesrer's Quarters we enjoyed a fresh, modern and clean take on farmhouse charm. The ensuite was more than adequate and the bedroom warm and cosy. The gravel road was perfectly manageable in a hatchback even after heavy rain. The Shearer's lounge and kitchen/dining areas were comfortable and well stocked. Lovely place to escape the rat race.
The wool classers shed was well appointed and very comfortable . A bit small for more than one nights stay but otherwise quite nice.
The road in and the road through to St Helens is suitable for Toyota Landcruiser type vehicles but not for regular sedans, its riddled with corrugations. I guess that's our fault for not researching things before hand. But Icena farmhouse is comfortable and quiet.
Just loved this little break from the norm. First time ever on a farm stay. Fiona was wonderful, could talk with her forever.First shared kitchen, was great met some lovely other guests. I give Icena Farm a 10 out of 10
Property is a hot spot for mosquitoes, there were at least 10 in our room and we each have around 30 bites. There was also no air conditioning and it was very warm.
Our night was terrible. There was a big spider with a red back in the house. We are not expert, but it was very similar to a dangerous spider for our lives (redback spider). We were there with a baby and it was not a safe environnement for him and for us. Outside, there was a lot of tasmanian devils who was running around the house, knocking at the windows all night long and attacking others animals. Next, the washer was out of order. Even though it was part of the house’s description (in the main title), nobody told us before our arrival. We were travelling for a month and have booked that accomodation especially for that. Finally, the house is located in the middle of nowhere and we didn’t have cellphone network. They didn’t provide wifi connection, so we couldn’t use our GPS or reached someone. Nobody let us know this before our arrival.
After our awful night, the owner of the house was hard to reach by Expedia and have refused any compensation for what we lived.
