The breathtaking scenery and heavenly phenomena make Møn the place to visit on your next holiday.

Outdoor activities are the best thing on offer when visiting Møn. The rolling landscape and miles of empty beaches provide the perfect setting for sport on land, sea and in the air. Venture outdoors after dark and you will be met by a unique sight.

Møn is an island off the south coast of Zealand and has had a tumultuous history thanks to its fantastic location close to Germany and Sweden – both of which have laid siege to and plundered the island. During the Middle Ages, the island was important because of herring fishing in the Öresund. The Elmelunde, Keldby and Fanefjord churches all feature some of the best lime paintings in the country, painted by the ‘Elmelunde Master’.

But Møn is best known for its natural wonder, Møns Klint, a 4-mile-long cliff that extends to 420 feet at its highest point, making you feel very small when you look up at the white wall towering above you. Climb all 496steps to the top to enjoy the magnificent view from the Freuchens Pynt view point. The GeoCenter Møns Klint is also on top of the cliff, a centre relating the geological history of the creation of Denmark.

Spend a weekend on Møn practising your favourite sport, or try your hand at something new. Kayaking, fishing, paragliding and diving are all activities available on the island. And in the summer, the beaches are popular for sunbathing or beachcombing for fossils and amber. Bike riding in the low hills and birdwatching are also popular pursuits.

Getting to Møn is easiest by car, either over Dronning Alexandrines Bro at Kalvehave or along the causeway from Bogø. If using public transport, take the train to Vordingborg and then a bus.

Complete your holiday in Møn with an unbeatable experience at night. Thanks to the almost complete absence of artificial light, you can see how the Milky Way blazes across the sky accompanied by millions of stars.
