"Everything was perfect.. I can’t think of anyway this could be improved. Great location, apartments were immaculate and really lovely decorated. Everything really well thought of. Can’t wait to return sometime soon. The most important things were that it was great for our children and our dog!! We spent our first evening at a local pub then walked home with a takeaway, next day at the market and shopped around the village. Cooked some amazing steaks from the butchers. "I absolutely loved our stay! It was very comfortable and felt like home. The only thing I could not figure out was the heater/towel rack in the bathroom was not turning on. There was fresh milk in the fridge for coffee or tea (both were provided with sugar) and biscuits (cookies). The kitchen was stocked with plates, pots and pans, utensils, everything we needed to prepare and eat a meal. Each room has its own bathroom, which is great when you have teenagers. "We had such a lovely stay, we checked out this morning and the place was super clean, beds and pillows really comfortable and lots of coffee/teas in the room. We will definitely be staying again, super close to the town centre of Bury St Edmund’s, just a 15 min drive which was ideal for us! We paid for breakfast this morning which was really tasty and we didn’t have to trek far, just across from the room. "

"Very comfortable stay with a wonderful breakfast in an old and well kept pub. The room was very clean, roomy and cosy. Bathroom worked well and had hot water always. The staff were kind and helpful. We had two days where there was no breakfast because it was Christmas and they discounted those two nights but also provided some oatmeal tubs for us and extra bits for the morning which we appreciated. We travel a lot and we feel the value for the room, food and location is excellent. I would stay here again if I had to return. "

"Excellent service. Very old building so there a few things that are as best as they can be but are not what you may expect. For example, the tub is higher than normal and would be problematic if you are older. Heat seemed to be missing except in the bathroom. Still, we would easily stay there again when we return. "

"Lovely location in the countryside off the main road. Lovely and quiet, able to see the stars clearly on a clear night. Stayed in the superior double. Had an issue with the sink, but maintenance came straight away and found a make up sponge in the sink… not mine. Stayed in 301, what would make just that little bit better is a coat hook in the entrance bit and a shelf between the sink and mirror in the bathroom to put stuff on. Other than that massive shout out to the housekeeper we met who was very attentive and does a great job keeping the rooms clean, fresh and looking amazing!"

"Brilliant stay again at the Windmill. Dinner was superb. Room was quiet and well cared for. Like many places it could do with a spruce up but the quality of service and wonderful environment make up for any minor blemishes. Food was amazing. We were staying for St Val’s night and thought it might affect our stay but it was a delicious dinner. Whenever I see a lot of options on a menu I’m concerned the quality might be mediocre. Not here. The quality of the cooking always seems to have been excellent whenever we’ve visited. "
