Hike along the northern shore of Meredith Bay on colossal Lake Winnipesaukee. With so much shoreline near Meredith, there are plenty of secret coves. One of the best is Leavitt Park, south of town. This 190-acre (77-hectare) forest offers ample opportunity for hiking and mountain biking. In winter a natural ice rink is the star attraction.
Try fishing for salmon and trout in the surrounding waterways and golf at Oak Hill Golf Course, a 5-minute drive west. This atmospheric nine-hole course also has a pro shop and rental store.
Meredith is in Belknap County, a 45-minute drive north of the state capital of Concord. Diners and cafés in Meredith offer food that is simple yet sumptuous, with freshly caught fish always a good choice.
