This B&B was great. The house itself is beautiful with wonderful antique’s. The hostess is very nice & the food was great. Will definitely go there again.
Great stay, with welcoming staff. We recommend this B&B as well as this town.

Ok B&B, not great but ok
It's a nice place, not the best B&B we've ever stayed in and I thought the price to be a little high. Privacy is lacking. The private bath is 3 doors down and none of the doors lock. In fact, ours didn't even latch.
We were doing an art show in Elkader, Iowa (25 minutes away) and so decided to stay in a B&B (my husband's first time). He did not know what to expect and was pleasantly surprised. Donna was so nice and accommodating. We stayed two nights but only ate breakfast one morning as we needed to be gone early one morning. Donna offered to get up at 5:30 to make us breakfast, but we said that was not necessary. The rooms were quaint and cozy. It was like staying at Grandma's house. :) Would definitely not hesitate to stay there again. .She had her grandchildren there with her; they were adorable. .
Well, first of all, this was the first time I have stayed in a B&B. I is like spending the nght in someone else's house. The room was very nice, I slept well. I was there for a Motorcycle rally where food was provided, so I did not have the breakfast. I have nothing to compare it too. I was quite happy not to be camping, with a private bathroomn and to sleep in a bed.
Stauer House is a great old Victorian B&B in a quaint river town. We found the host, Donna, very welcoming and friendly. The place was clean and comfortable. Our purpose was to visit several WI State Historical sites in the area and Stauer House was conveniently located for that. We will stay again if we are in the area.

OK
Noisy as it is next to the street and trucks come by at 5:00 am. Very nice people running the facility.
My wife and I have stayed here several times over the past few years on our way out to see our daughter at school. Donna is a great hostess, funny, warm and always very welcoming. Her breakfasts are delicious and the rooms are quaint, comfortable and immaculate. Her grandsons are adorable! Would highly recommend staying here on your next trip through northeast Iowa.
The host was incredibly generous and kind. They were very accommodating; taking the time to give us a personal tour of the house and a little history of the home. It is very beautiful. The breakfast was amazing; several choices and all homemade with ingredients from her garden. You will not be disappointed here. The only thing that may have been a hamper is that the bathroom was down the hall, but it was not shared with anyone other than the people in our room. The products that were offered in the bathroom were great too!
Small room, nicely furnished, a few antique/reproduction items of furniture. Clean and comfy, AC worked very well (which was fortunate during a very hot spell), friendly owner and excellent hot breakfast. It is like staying at someone's house, as an entire three generation family lives here, including an infant and a friendly dog. Nice place to stay if you are in the McGregor area.
