My husband and I enjoyed our one night stay in Mcgregor Iowa at noon the Stauer House. We checked in early and Donna had the room ready for us and showers it to us along with sharing the history of the house. The room had an air conditioner so we could regulate the coolness ourselves. Furnishings were quaint and age-appropriate for the house. Breakfast was served at 8 am with wonderful selections. Donna had asked when we checked in if we had any food allergies so she could cook accordingly. Very pleasant stay.

We stayed at the Stauer House for 4 nights. It made an excellent base for hiking and seeing the historical sites of SW Wisconsin and NE Iowa. The house has been beautifully restored. Donna provided a great breakfast every morning with lots of variety. We would definitely stay there again if in the area.

The rooms are tastefully decorated and there was plenty of room to move around. It was much appreciated to have one's own bathroom. I was surprised at the amenities, from shower gel, shampoos, lotion, etc. She also had available numerous DVDs if one was interested and bottled water. I have already recommended Stauer house to others.

We enjoyed our stay and the pleasant company. Not only were the owners available at any time, they were friendly and we enjoyed hearing the stories of their renovations of this grand old house. Breakfasts were EXCELLENT and served graciously, bedrooms and bathrooms were immaculate. We'd stay there again.

My husband and I had a great stay at Stauer House. The location was easy to find and parking was convenient. It was just a short walk to the cute downtown and a quick ride to Pike's Peak State Park, Effigy Mounds, and across the river to Wyalusing State Park. The room was clean and comfortable, and the breakfast was amazing. The friendly couple that owns this B&B offered great insight about the area and on places to explore.

We were greeted with such a friendly face as we met Donna. She made us feel right at home and we felt very welcomed there. Our suite was lovely, our privacy was respected and we thoroughly enjoyed learning all about how they came to rescue this lovely home and start the B&B. We love old homes like this and enjoyed all the lovely furnishings and attention to detail. Oh yes, the breakfast was fabulous!!

Close to Prairie Du Chien WI, cute small town with a few restaurants. Comfortable rooms, bath down the hall but each room has its own bath. Delicious breakfast, early morning coffee available.

Love love love this B and B! I was here for just a couple days for work, but I wish I could have stayed longer. Great host and great food! I stayed in the maids room and it was the perfect size for me. Even had a little table and chair, I could do work at! Loved the antique couch! I opened a window for fresh air, I loved hearing the rain at night. I want to bring back my entire family and stay here for a week!

We had a last minute reservation & they were MORE than accommodating!! The rooms were very clean & the home is spectacular! It was built in the 1800's & they updated it, but kept the original features. The room had a small TV & DVD player and there was a whole cabinet full of movies to choose from. In the morning, we left a little later, so she had an amazing spread of food left in the warmer for us, as well as fresh cut fruit in the fridge, homemade zucchini bread, coffee, many different types of tea, and much more. I'd definitely recommend this home!

It's a nice place, not the best B&B we've ever stayed in and I thought the price to be a little high. Privacy is lacking. The private bath is 3 doors down and none of the doors lock. In fact, ours didn't even latch.

This place is like taking a step back to the Victorian age. It is a beautifully restored Lumber Baron's home with the unique history preserved in pictures and documents. Donna is a wonderful hostess and a great cook. Loved it.
