"The house itself is beautiful but all around it is extremely badly taking care of. The yard is a mess, the grass high, and just next to some run down green houses. Some kind of a huge computer was making a terrible noise when we arrived, the owner allow us to turned it off thankfully. Could be a wonderful place to stay "

"We dropped our bags in the morning to hold until checkin. We asked about the local bus, & the one man who spoke English said the ONLY way to ride the bus was to buy a 2-day pass. A few min later when we went to tourist information @ the station, we learned you could pay per ride, which is what we wanted. The next thing was checkin @ 2:25pm. The building we slept in was 4-5 blocks from reception, which we had no idea about, & we were rushed to drop off our bags because reception closed @ 8pm that...

"We stayed here while hiking the nakasando trail and it was the best decision. The onsen was beautiful. Everything was clean. Staff were superb. The dinner and breakfast buffets were amazing. Can’t wait to come back. "

"Our three night stay was a highlight of our three week Japan visit. The staff was so kind and so friendly. Especially Iyaka and Ling. Our room was large and the western beds were comfortable. The shuttle bus was very convenient running from the Kiso train station to the property. The meals were delicious. This was our first stay at a ryokan. The food was served with an explanation and instructions on how to handle the hot pots and mini table grill. We enjoyed wearing our cotton yukatas and slippers to the meals. It really changes the dining experience and brings it to another level. The onsens were very clean and enjoyable. We used both the indoor onsen which we reserved for private use and the outdoor onsen. Sitting under the stars, soaking in the rock lined onsen after a day walking the Nakasendo Trail is an experience I'll never forget!"

"We’ve just spent two wonderful nights, here, and everything has been perfect. The hotel is miles from anywhere so you either need a car or use the hotel shuttle bus to ferry you to and from the nearest station. The staff are so friendly and helpful. The highlight was the traditional Japanese meals served in a private dining area. Every course (they kept on coming) is a wonderful new ‘taste surprise’. We also hired the private Onsen, for an hour; another new experience. If you like being well looked after and being away from the hustle and bustle of the cities, this is for you!"
