"The hotel is at the centre of the town. Perhaps an option for an overnight stay. Medium breakfast but ok given the price. Air conditioning in my room was rather basic, did not help much, felt the heat. Staff did not speak English but given that Ubatuba is generally a holiday destination for ‘Paulistas’, Sao Paolo residents, that is understandable so get prepared, at least with basic Portuguese. "Papaya is close to the north beach and the shops, but quite a long way from the more popular south beach. The free WiFi really only works reliably outside the rooms because these are shipping containers and the metal walls interfere. The rooms were very basic with okay beds, and the breakfast was good. "

Poor value for money

"It is quite astonishing that this establishment has received such a high volume of favorable evaluations. The state of cleanliness was unsatisfactory, and the room was permeated with a musty odor, which was subsequently determined to be the result of a ceiling leak that had saturated a pillow that had been placed in the wardrobe. Although breakfast was included in the room rate, the caliber of the food left much to be desired. While some members of the staff were cordial, others did not exactly make us feel particularly welcome during our stay. We have no intention of staying at this establishment again in the future."
