The hotel was average. We were expecting more. We had some trouble at checking and that kind of set the tone. In one room the air conditioner didn't work. The view was beautiful though I had to request a room change to get the view that I'd paid to get. The staff was very friendly and Tina, the manager, was especially nice and did her best to rectify any mistakes. Overall the atmosphere of the hotel property was great. Just a little better upkeep in the rooms and better communication would help.

Great stay. Did book a superior room on the top floor so had our own balcony. A very substantial buffet breakfast that will keep you going all day. Spar across the road for snack and drinks. Lots of good restaurants within easy walking. Great parking facilities under the hotel if you have a rental car.

Ok hotel but bed uncomfortable. Seemed like there was a plastic mattress cover under the sheet and could feel springs or lumpy bits in bed. Im not sure why this is a five star hotel as my usual four star next door has more swimming pools, much bigger grounds with lovely gardens amd more restaurants to choose to eat in.

Our third visit to this hotel and as usual it was excellent. Staff are friendly and nothing is too much trouble. It’s a nice walk, mostly downhill, to the centre of Funchal or there is a frequent and reliable bus service which stops a hundred metres from the front door. Breakfast has everything you’d want and although we didn’t eat in the restaurant in the evening it was an option and there are plenty of quality and affordable restaurants nearby.
