The site is known by local residents as Ai He and was formerly called Dagou River and Takao River. It flows for 7.5 miles (12 kilometres) from the outskirts of the city to Kaohsiung Harbour.
Love River runs through the city from north to southwest. Its scenic promenade is near the Kaohsiung Harbour in the city centre. Take the metro to either the Yanchengpu Station or the City Council Station and walk a few blocks to reach the river. Nearby attractions include Central Park and the Kaohsiung Museum of History.
