"Overall, good experience and would come back. The property itself is absolutely beautiful and has more coastline than any other hotel in Mendocino as far as I know. Multiple lookout points on bluffs and semi private access to a rocky beach. The room was clean and comfortable with vaulted ceilings, a large bathroom with heated floors. The property itself is so nice that it deserves a higher level of service and amenities. Dinner menu was small and not impressive so we chose to eat elsewhere....

The only reason I’m not giving it an overall 5 stars is because instead of being charged half of the fee upon booking (like it stated we would be), we were charged the entire fee when we got there. "Overall a great stay, but the bed was too hard for us to really enjoy our second night. Attempting to sleep on your side resulted in stiff shoulders and hips and our backs were stiff as well. Kind of sad to spend so much money on a hotel room that you don’t even look forward to sleeping in the bed at. We stayed there in the same category of room 5 years ago when it was under a different name and ownership and never had any issues with bed comfort."

"Finding myself on my own for the holidays, I decided to make a short trip to Mendocino, and area that I love. I checked in on Christmas Eve, and stayed for two days. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and I was pleased to have a fireplace, sitting area, small refrigerator and coffee maker. The receptionist at the front (I wish I could remember her name) was incredibly helpful in advising me which places would hold Christmas Eve services, and made sure I had anything I needed. "It has a lot of charm but sadly we made a fire in the fireplace and made sure the flue was open but still the room was filled with smoke even with the door open the smoke alarm went off. Also the refrigerator didn't work. I am sure this is not typically the case, but Sweetwater resort never got back to me when I emailed them regarding these matters."
