"The short version of this review: Paradise at a pleasing price! Our stay at Gatun Lake Lodge was wonderful! Pierre, our host, was entertaining, accommodating, competent, and charming! And, the entire staff was very friendly and helpful. Every meal was fresh and delicious. Our cabaña was very bright, comfortable, and clean. The pool was crystal clear and at the perfect temperature. The grounds were very well kept and full of exotic plants. Many of these beautiful plants are raised to become part of those delicious meals. We hiked every day to different parts of the property that includes beautiful views of Gatun Lake from hill tops, forays into the rain forest where a soothing stream spills into the lake and various birds and sloths live just off the path. One morning, we went on a boat to feed the monkeys, and as a bonus, got to see a giant container ship on the canal. One night, we went out in a little launch with “Lide” to find caymans; what a thrill! I highly recommend both tours; just ask Pierre! For our relaxing, quiet times, we sat on the deck watching the sun rise, sun bathed and floated in the pool, and kayaked in the flower-filled marshes along the lakeshore. One word of warning, stay on the main roads from La Chorrera to get to the lodge. Either via C. Hazia Mendoza or Via Sta. Cruz. DO NOT follow the Google Map route through Nueva Emperador; especially at night! I highly-recommend Lake Gatun Lodge for anyone who loves nature, great food, and nice people!"

"The room and bed were great The restaurant offered great breakfast buffet and the lunch and dinner menus had plenty of options. We enjoyed the one hour walking tour. We enjoyed the size of the pool; however, the water was very cloudy, thus questionable. "

"The walkable property, the variety of birds and the jungle sounds we could hear from our deck. A great stay here!"

"The idea of "Panama time" was prevalent on property. After traveling all day room was 2 hours behind for being ready, no keys given until requested on 2nd day, dinner offer by owners personal chef not prepared on time (left after waiting too long). BUT the owner constantly tried to make up for many things and that was appreciated. The dock was nice to relax on. The crew took people out for boat rides daily. Biggest problem was the restaurant under new management. Arrogant and lacked cooking skills and most things unavailable on the menu. Until new restaurant management occurs we suggest El Bongo next door. Great food and super ambiance. I do want to thank the owner of the hostel for his efforts having his chef make breakfast for us on the final morning. Of course, the follow through or "Panama time" really messed with our enjoyment. He really tried to please us, just not organized with his time and no strong staff to cover for him. Very nice fella and we wish him the best of luck."

"I appreciated they had a monitored parking area with physical guard at night directly in front of hotel entrance and visible from my room. Walking distance to many grocery and retail shopping areas. And many delicious and modestly priced eating options. "

"This is a very nice, classic hotel that is nicely appointed, clean, has attentive staff, and is a good value. The neighborhood around it seems to have aged differently than this well-maintained hotel, but their staff and security kept us feeling unquestionably safe. There is a restaurant on the first floor and that is similarly well staffed. We would gladly stay here again."
