"I stayed during new years celebration and the staff and people were kind enough to involve me in the celebrations. It was a once in a lifetime experience. Amazing staff. 👌"
"Stay away! It was the worst experience of my whole stay in Sri Lanka. I booked that hotel for 1 night. I noticed that they have a policy for late check in (after 9pm) so on the way I tried to contact them because I was afraid if I will be able to get over there on time. Me and my driver called them several times for hours before my arrival without any result. Finally we got over there about 8:30 pm but there was nobody there and all seemed like closed. We were walking around and calling for help. Finally, a man showed up and really wanted to help us. He asked us to wait and said he'll get the manager. He was trying and trying but the manager didn't respond at all so we were left in the middle of jungle without a room to stay. Fortunately we found another place. The next day I contacted Expedia to get my refund since we didn't get the room. They tried to contact the manager with no results either, after a couple of days they told me the property refused the refund. Expedia offered $25 reward. I also send an email to the property, they never responded. I am traveling around the world and never had a situation like that. Things happens and I always try to be patient and understandable but this situation shows that the property doesn't deserve over 4* reviews. I've heard that they've hired a new manager not so long ago who has an alcohol problems so be careful if you choose them!"
"I booked Kurunduketiya as a birthday present for my partners 30th and some nice accommodation to finish our holiday at. However due to poor administrational errors, the resort didn’t have the correct details of our booking which we had paid for in full. It wasn’t until I reached out with questions about the booking 5 days prior that they contacted me to tell me that they had double booked and that we had to cut our stay short one night. They did offer up accomodation at another resort, however it was far inferior and had poor reviews. This then meant that rather than relaxing and enjoying our final day in Sri Lanka, we had to pack up and move to different accommodation for the final night.
What made the whole experience worse was that rather than issuing me a full refund promptly, the manager Jayomi took a long time to resolve the issue fully and has ultimately left me out of pocket.
The accomodation itself was beautiful, but it was a very disappointing way to end the trip. Particularly given the way it was handled so poorly with management and Expedia.
