If you’re booking a stay at the French Country Inn based on the photos, prepare yourself for a rude awakening—and perhaps a tetanus shot.
What’s advertised as a “quaint lakeside retreat” is, in reality, a dilapidated property. The photos on the website are not just outdated—they’re borderline fraudulent. The rooms look nothing like the filtered, soft-lit marketing images. Instead, think stained carpeting, holes in walls, and bathrooms that feel like they haven’t seen a deep clean or renovation since the Reagan administration.
The property itself is in desperate need of maintenance. Peeling paint and bird poop on the stairs, piles of dead bugs along the outside walls make the entire inn feel like it’s been abandoned and reinhabited by someone with no sense of hospitality.
Bottom line: The French Country Inn is a textbook case of style over substance. We ended up switching accommodations and spending extra out of pocket because it was so gross.
