Enjoy a skiing holiday beneath the Spanish winter sun at La Molina Ski Resort, set high up in the Pyrenees. From easy slopes for novices and children to awe-inspiring black runs, the groomed trails will satisfy all skiers. The gorgeous winter playground also features a variety of non-skiing activities, such as tubing, snowshoeing and ice diving.
More than half of the 54 marked slopes at La Molina are graded green or blue. The short Pista Llarga and Els Pins runs are good first steps for beginners. More advanced skiers and snowboarders should make their way to the red and black runs of Puigllançada and Niu de l'Aliga, the resort’s two highest peaks. There are numerous exciting options, including the challenging Carena and Isards runs.
Practice your jumps and tricks at one of the freestyle areas. They include Trampoli Park, with its jumps and boxes, and the 558-feet (170-metre) long superpipe at the base of Molina.
Away from the slopes, there are lots of activities for non-skiers. Rent a pair of snowshoes and walk along one of the snowshoe circuits, go ice diving in a lake and enjoy the spectacular mountain views on a gondola ride. For children, there are the zip lines, bridges and jumps of the Trees Adventure Park. Visit the El Bosquet slope family area to try tubing along the doughnut course. There is also tubing on the slopes of the Coll de Pal tubing area.
After your many hours of fun and excitement, relax tired limbs at the wellness centre at the Guitart Hotel. Then enjoy the après-ski in the bars and restaurants. One dining option is to take the gondola up to the Niu de l'Àliga mountain refuge, the resort’s highest point. Take in gorgeous views over the surrounding area and, after dinner, ski by torchlight back down to the resort. This activity has to be booked, and guides join you on the descent.
La Molina Ski Resort is in the Cerdanya Valley in the Catalan Pyrenees, about a 2-hour drive from Barcelona.
