"If you missed out on the Communist era, the Hotel Neboder is running a neat simulation, note-perfect in several aspects: the menacing front-desk staff, outdated and broken furniture, carpets that needed replacing 20 years ago, and, of course, the truly scary mid-70’s elevator. Extra touches include an air conditioner pegged at 24 C, and room curtains that don’t fit the windows, but none of it would really work without the general atmosphere of hopelessness that is their real masterstroke.
