"We had a really poor experience… 1) The bathrooms and washing areas were smelling bad / extremely unclean… the taps were all fully dark and rusty 2) very salty water provided for all washing / bathing. 3) extremely un-friendly staff who were showing absolutely no interest in the welfare of the guests. 4) It was extremely hot during day time, so we asked them to switch on the AC and they said AC will be available only from 9pm. 5) We bought some expensive prawns from the shop they took as to ,...

"We booked a premium room but the room given was completely different to the photos provided. Address was different to what was given on here. Had to wait over an hour for check in time evenknow we arrived within check in time. When we asked about the room being premium we were ignored. On boat staff were fine and accomodating which is the reason I didnt give a lower rating. We ended up booking another place for the second night because we were so disappointed. "

"What a wonderful place, very beautiful and relaxing. Accommodation absolutely top notch, staff even better. Having stayed in several highly rated 5 star hotels during our month long tour of India we felt this to be the best. If you're looking for the backwater experience in true comfort and style then this gives you that. We hired a day boat which picked us up from the bottom of the garden. "Beautiful setting and friendly stuff but let down by simple things, such as, not collecting rubbish left outside the room and charging extortionate price for tea (compared to anywhere else in India) when we assumed it was free by the way they offered without mentioning a price."

"Loved my stay on Marvel. Did two nights and enjoyed every minute. The staff was wonderful, professional and kind. Food was amazing, especially the celebratory lunch that was served on my second day. Absolutely beautiful cruise - highly recommend this experience. "

"A comfortable stay with really good food! The 2 bedroom suites are great when you’re traveling with family, as there is a large living area to get together. The only problem we encountered was with extremely loud music coming from an adjoining property. I guess there was very little our hotel could do about that!"

"A beautiful property that is 160 years old staffed by lovely people. Everyone was helpful - especially with local attractions and booking boat tours. Breakfast was good. The pool is good but could use a clean and currently there are no loungers - due to be replaced soon. The owners are building a restaurant on site which will be a great addition."

"Ideal break for a couple or family of 4 or a small group of friends. Great food, great service, great rooms. It is a wellness centre, very peaceful, right on the backwaters of Kerala. Very good value for money. Can improve in choice of TV programmes as most are in local language."
