Aged hotel,as in needs updating from the 1970s or 80s. Staff are extremely friendly and helpful but that doesn’t make up for the lack of maintenance on the hotel.
We stayed in what was considered a deluxe room facing the ocean. These rooms open on to an enclosed balcony which is shared by all six or seven rooms so not really a lot of privacy If you wanted to sit out there. also you’re only getting the air that is able to come through windows that only partly open possibly for safety reasons. To get fresh air in your room which the rooms need it because they are stuffy and smelly it’s quite difficult because even though you have your window fully open they are only opened to an enclosed balcony and as stated before even though the window is airflow is limited.
they use bedspreads which for me is an absolute no! My first question is when was the last time they were washed. My guess is never also blankets again, when were they last washed. At least with a quilt and covered in a sheet you know the sheets are being washed regularly. Not sure if this adds to the smell of the room but quite possibly also Kingscote has an issue with seaweed and as a result there is an odour from the rotting seaweed. This could also be part of the problem with the smell.
The town itself is trying to update But most areas look old and rundown. There is a local supermarket a large park and a pub and cafe there is also a seafood cafe restaurant takeaway
