"A great base to visit the snow monkeys. A beautiful and traditional onsen. The breakfast and dinner was served by older ladies that did not necessarily speak English but definitely kept trying to make it an amazing experience each time. The variety of the served food was just overwhelming. So delicious and always something freshly cooked right at your table. "What a gem! Shibu Onsen Ichinoyu Katei is an experience in itself. A short ride from Yudanaka train station, this tradițional ryokhan is excellent. "Loved our stay at Shibu Onsen Kokuya and would highly recommend. They made the trip into the mountains and to see the snow monkeys very easy - with transfers included and bag drop to the station. The traditional dinner and breakfast were a great experience. Also loved the variety of onsen’s available within the hotel itself - and private Onsen with your room if you want! "

"The rooms had a classic "Showa era" style, which gave them a great atmosphere, and were quite spacious for two people. The onsen was on the small side but clean and nice, with a pretty outdoor area. There was a lounge area with free drinks, nuts, and dried fruit. It was a decent value. I'd stay there again."

"Everything was great except housekeeping. Instead of full-time staff, the interns were the ones cleaning the rooms. Socks was swept beneath the bed, personal pillows and clothes were left on the ground. Only the edge of the table was wiped. Replenishing of toilet mugs kept decreasing and even had some suspicious liquid in it on the last day of housekeeping. Onsen towels were not cleared and kept piling up. "

"No so friendly staffs We have book with two children and paid all before going to hotel. But when we arrived the staff said our plan doesn’t include children meal. So we have to pay again at the hotel again. "
