Disliked: Property conditions & facilities
You really get what you pay for here.
We arrived at 8pm. There is very little outside lighting. You can’t see the building from the street. You can see the sign.
Upon check in I was approached in the lobby by an unhoused person trying to lure me outside and then asking me for money. Staff seemed unphased, although they were busy checking people in.
Throughout our stay we noticed several poverty stricken people around the facility, taking in shelter in corridors and hall ways. Particularly lots of coming and going on the second floor, upper level wing. Made us question if they provide monthly low income housing.
There were several domestic disputes, pimps arguing with their workers, on the morning we left, police and firefighters were attending an overdose (second floor upper wing).
We were here with a youth hockey team. We all felt very unsafe and when it was brought up to the staff - they were defensive. There are no security personnel, and staff seems complacent to the coming and going of unhoused people, and people who were not patrons to the hotel.
The hotel (as others have said) needs renovations, lots of wear and tear throughout the building; although rooms were clean, beds and pillows comfortable.
Mitchel the night duty person was particularly helpful.
