It was definitely very convenient to have washing/drying machine in the bedroom, laundry detergent was provided, awesome! Over all very good, place is not fancy but it has everything you need. It was clean but cleaning needs improvement in some areas, specially shower door."

"The front desk are really helpful. I had problems with communications on my car bookings and Takayama tickets. They were so patient in helping me. If you are a foreign guest , this hotel is great. The rooms are spacious. The soft jazz music in the lounge is lovely. It’s location is great. Lots of good eateries nearby. Check out Cafe Basque for a lovely small restaurant with reasonable good Spanish food with good vibes. Prices are decent. "

"The hotel is comfortable, clean and close the station. 10 minute walk to the town. Our room was spacious and had a safe, microwave, hob, fridge-freezer and a washing machine. There was a separate toilet, and wet room. There is a 7 11 across the road. The hotel has a public onsen that good. Good value for money"

"Stairs. I am 88 and stairs with luggage is a bad combo. The owner has done a very good job in keeping the property clean and comfortable. The location can't be beat but this is not a place for older folks."

"友人数名で泊まらせていただきました！セルフチェックイン、アウトでしたがスムーズにすることができ部屋も快適に過ごすことができました。ただ清潔さに関してはカーテンや窓側がホコリやハエがいたので少し残念でした。ですがゲームやテレビがでかかったのでみんなで遊んだりすることができめちゃくちゃ楽しい旅行になりました！管理人さんには後日落とし物などでご迷惑おかけし大変申し訳ありませんでした。また近場に来た時泊まらせて頂きます！ありがとうございました‼︎"

"To clarify this is NOT a rating for Rainbow Takayama House. We booked Rainbow Takayama and were shifted to another property a few days before we arrived. Reason given was that Rainbow Takayama House was not in a state to be rented due to dirt and odor. The house we were put in instead was not particularly nice, fairly old, and generally not in a great state, so I can only imagine what our originally booked place was like. "

"It is a base city for our 4d3n trip and the location is perfect, can't be better."

"The smell in the house is awful everything smells like old mold and nothing is updated. Its very cold downstairs and hot upstairs. If you like smelly clothes and short to railroad this is it. Retro for some people but really paint is not that expensive and some updated heating and cooling would be nice."

"Two tech issues compounded by lack of human service: 1) Unable to check in using house iPad, which asked for Passcode not provided. 2) Could not connect to wifi. Was able to "saved, secure" but not connect with either of our two devices. Research online regarding "wifi saved secure vs connect" indicated house router likely needed to be reset. "A beautiful hotel! We really enjoyed our stay here. The hotel is in the middle of the historic area of Takayama. It’s walking distance to everything you’d like to see. The hotel is clean, staff were super kind. They have free drinks each evening in the lounge and offer both western or Japanese breakfast for a fee. The hotel isn’t the most sound proof however it’s a quiet area where shops and restaurants close at a reasonable time so we had no trouble sleeping. Our room was very spacious and clean. We found the beds to be comfy. It was about a 15 minute walk from the train station. "

"Amazing experience, staff was extremely kind and helpful especially with my little to no Japanese. Food service was a rush but arriving minutes, maybe 20-30mins before your time will benefit you. Especially at breakfast, that long line was no joke so be the first one there. Dinner was easy, almost no wait. Onsen was perfect, amenities was full. Ocean Wing was great, classic tatami room, and sleeping to the sound of the ocean was amazing. Beautiful views from the room. Shuttle bus was easy access, across Atami station. The hotel may not be new but no big deal, embrace the Showa era feel. "

"Loved this hotel! Room was bigger than expected (Deluxe Hollywood Room) and was very clean. Check-in/out was easy with friendly and professional staff available to assist. Breakfast had a good variety of food. Main attractions were within walking distance (10-20 mins walk). Public transportation nearby (10 mins walk). Wish we stayed longer than one night for greater use of the facilities. Would definitely stay here again. "
