"The weather was awful rain and cold but what a warm welcome we recieved staff and locals very helpful and informative they dont do food but recommended Georges fish bar and wow we wasnt disappointed cant wait to make a return visit "

"It was handy for walking to shops and sea front. Quiet at back , which was good at night but a bit noisy at front. Fridge wasn’t working and a hairdryer would be useful. However, we enjoyed our stay and would book again. Spotlessly clean. "

"Great stay room warm and clean breakfast tasty and good choice. One slight criticism at 230 pm go to check in and told your room is ready but will have to pay ten pound early check inn fee challenged this and then told well if you join Holliday inn rewards I could check into my room which was ready for no fee obviously reception have been instructed to implement this 10 pound charge but why get somebody’s back up when checking in for the sake of ten pound poor."

"Overall stay was good, but the rooms heating wasn’t on when I arrived, admins are only radiators, and either on or off…. Gap under door which let the light through from the corridor all night, I ended up putting a pillar to cover the gap on the floor to try and stop most coming through. Service was amazing, as I forgot my toothbrush and they provided one free. "

"The property itself was well kept, clean, and had good utilities. Parking was not at all clear, since it seemed to be in a permit-only area so I parked about 10 minutes away on foot. Strange area to stay in, but again, the place itself was nice and well kept."

"Stayed in penthouse loads and i mean loads of storage space only stayed for one night and had no complaints whatsoever "

"Do not be put off by the fact I gave it 4 stars for comfort - part of its charm is nothing is straight in the place. The windows, doors and often the floors are wonky. But is really is a fantastic place to stay. Where else are you going to walk through a wardrobe to your bathroom. Lovely None of the pics I uploaded do it justice "

"Stayed for a football match (Pompey fan) Room was a good price and came with breakfast. Staff were happy for my car to stay in the blue car park for the duration of the match before we set of home. Food was great and staff all friendly. Would stay again! "

A good nights sleep in a really nice hotel.

"Our one night stay at 61 Durham was very nice. The hotel is located about 10 minutes drive from Durham city centre in very nice grounds on the edge of Pittington Village. Parking was free and only a few steps from the main entrance. We were allocated room 218 on the second floor, an attic room with a sloping ceiling overlooking the lawned rear garden. The room was clean and comfortable with a small but nice bathroom and a decent shower with really good water pressure. Our bed was soft and comfortable and the room was quiet so we had a good nights sleep. Breakfast in the orangery dining room was very good and the staff both at reception and generally throughout our stay were very friendly and attentive. A really good option if you're visiting Durham and want somewhere close but without the noise and bustle of the city."
