Can't understand the receptionist

The receptionist doesn't speak any English. She told us to give her 188RMB as the security and told us that she will give us back that the next day.(communicated with my restricted Chinese and Body language) But the other day, she refused to give us back. I can't understand that situation. Anyway I do not recommend this place to those who can't speak Chinese.
