Ho Chi Minh Square is a vast plaza with well-ordered patches of grass, raised Vietnamese flags and a tall statue of a former president. This is clearly an important national setting, where street parades and ceremonies are held. Meet friends at this popular gathering point at the nucleus of the city, before continuing to explore other sights.
Stroll past the charming fountain and enjoy the serene ambiance in this spacious plaza. Gaze up at the impressive statue of former president Ho Chi Minh. Ascend the outdoor steps to the base of the statue and consider its sheer size. The image of the national hero is 39 feet (12 meters) tall and stands atop a pedestal. At the statue base are flowers and topiary shrubs.

In front of the statue is a large patchwork of grassy squares, flanked by tropical trees. Venture behind the monument to the curved area of trees and plants. Farther ahead is a large park with the pretty Sy Huan Lake, which has a picturesque island. Dine at one of the restaurants and cafés on either side of the lake.
Note that work commenced on this spacious square in 2000, to mark 110 years since the birth of its namesake president. It opened to the public three years later. The site is free to access and remains open at all times.
Ho Chi Minh Square is north of the Cá River in the heart of Vinh. Ride a bus to one of the stops surrounding its adjacent park. Visit nearby sights, such as Goong Lake, the Hông Son Temple and the Câu Râm parish church.
