"A very loud fire alarm went off at 4am and went on for quite a while. I was already running on the stairs when it stopped. Goodbye sleep. The following morning I was expecting some apologies but no. When I mentioned it, the guy at the reception very cheerfully said "Oh, that. Yes, there was no fire, it was just a coffee machine. But so we know that the alarm works!" Which is Mecklenburg-Vorpommern idea of sense of humour, maybe."

"We have stayed in Gustrow many times over the years and usually choose another hotel, just out of the centre. This is a small hotel with small rooms. The Reception staff was very good and very friendly. The room was very small and the bathroom was even smaller. The bed was very hard, but the mattress was of good quality. "Beautiful historic building in great condition. The hotel manager called us ahead of time to check on our ETA, and provided us with instructions for our check in after hours. The hotel has its own parking area within own premises. The room was very nice, clean and with a roomy bathroom. The breakfast was served in an expansive glass room, and there was a good selection of quality food."
