"Was informed that reception closed at 1830. We were due to arrive at 1900 so they agreed to stay open. Was informed on arrival that the bar would only be open from around 1915 until 2000. Was a little surprised to find that the hotel/Spa has no dining facilities and the nearest place to eat is around 15 mins drive away. "What an unexpected treasure Château de La Ballue. I had booked this stay while touring the Normandy beach landings for just one night. What a shame we were only there for such a brief time. The home is charming and beautiful. The room was perfection and the grounds were such a surprise. I had no idea they were world class manicured gardens complete with a labyrinth! "La chambre de base est parfaite pour une nuitée de passage car il n'y a qu'un lit et salle de bain (douche et toilette). Pas de frigo. Par contre, si vous prenez le petit déjeuner, celui-ci est copieux et beaucoup de choix : pains, croissants, oeufs, bacon, fromage, confitures, yaourt, café etc. Le tout était excellent et le service très bien avec gens souriants.
