The Grenoble-Bastille Cable Car is a 4-minute journey to the top of Fortress Mountain. This ride is famed for its unusual “bubble” cars, which are individual transparent domes that can transport up to six people. The best times to take the Grenoble-Bastille Cable Car are at sunrise or sunset, when the enchanting natural lighting complements the already spectacular scenery. The cable car is open year-round, with closure for a short period every January. The starting point for the cable car is found at the riverside Quai Stéphane Jay, right near the Jardin de Ville. There is a small fee to ride to the top of the hill.
