Once a quiet fishing village, Es Pujols is now a popular tourist destination with many restaurants and bars. Unlike other Spanish coastal towns, it has preserved considerable laid-back charm. Relax on a sandy beach with clean blue-green waters. During the evening enjoy the fun atmosphere of the Spanish “marcha” (nightlife).
The crescent-shaped beaches at Es Pujols provide picture-perfect spots where you can take great panoramic photos. The water is crystal clear with small rock islands scattered around, protecting the area from the wind and waves. It’s quite common to see people without swimsuits, as nudism is a popular practice on the island. Go for a swim and relax on the white sand of this beautiful Mediterranean spot. If you don’t have your own sunbed or umbrella, rent some at the beach.
After enjoying Es Pujols beach, stroll on the paved sea promenade lined with restaurants and bars. Find places serving good local dishes on Avinguda Miramar near the ocean.
While you are visiting this charming town in Formentera, make sure to enjoy some of its nightlife. Near the waterfront find the Carrer d’Espardell, a street with many bars that stay open until late hours. Es Pujols is also the home of the Tipic Club Formentera, a very famous nightclub operating since the 1970s, hosting well-known bands such as Pink Floyd.
If you would like a quieter beach to spend the day, head in a northwest direction, toward Platja Llevant (Playa de Levante or Levante Beach). On the way, notice picturesque fishing boats and small sandy areas.
Formentera is an island without an airport. The only way of getting to Es Pujols is by ferry from Ibiza, a nearby island that can be accessed by plane or boat from many major cities including Barcelona. Consider renting a scooter to get around the island or use the convenient bus system.
