Fifth Avenue (South) Shopping District has been the main shopping area in the Old Naples district since the 1920s. The long road is filled with shops, boutiques, antique stores, restaurants and galleries. Browse, shop, dine and stroll along palm tree-fringed boulevards.
A good place to start your visit is at the avenue’s Visitor’s Information Centre. Here you will find maps of the areas, brochures about the various stores and services and details of upcoming events. Afterward, check out work by local artists in the adjoining Main Street Gallery.
Enjoy the Florida sunshine as you walk down Fifth Avenue South. Your stroll will take you past dozens of stores and gorgeous Italianate buildings, a popular architectural style in parts of the city. Shop for the latest men’s and women’s fashions, jewellery, books, antiques and much more. Break up your shopping expedition as you sit in one of the avenue’s green shaded areas.
Nearby Cambier Park is another popular place for a pit stop. Picnic on the green open spaces and let the children burn off some energy in the playground. The park frequently hosts events, such as the jazz concert series on Sundays and arts and crafts shows. While you are in the park, visit the Von Liebig Art Centre for its art exhibitions, classes and workshops.
Find more cultural activities in the Sugden Community Theatre, located on the avenue. It is home to the Naples Players, and stages comedies, dramas and musicals.
In addition to its shops, the avenue is a sought after destination for the variety and quality of its dining scene. There are French-style bistros, cafés, franchises, pubs, delicatessens, bakeries and upscale establishments. Many have outside seating areas.
Fifth Avenue (South) Shopping District is in downtown Naples, about a 10-15 minute walk away from Naples Pier and its spectacular views over the Gulf of Mexico. Park your car in either of the metered parking garages, both within easy walking distance of the avenue. There is also a public parking lot nearby.
