We stayed at Comfort Suites in Ennis Nov 14-17. The place was okay, nothing to recommend. We had an event near by so it was just sleeping and leaving early in the morning. First day in we get our rooms and walk in to see a bug crawling by the sink. Mentioned it to the staff and they said yes, they have had a problem in the past and there is still some left. We found that to be unacceptable. We needed an extra night on the night of the 17th and asked them to help us with the cost as there was a bug in the room and they denied. We ended up in another hotel which was half the cost and a lot nicer. The manger would not help us with the cost or any sort of compensation.

The air was thick with mildew and cigarettes. We had to buy air freshener to make it manageable. The rooms are large but super run down. We stayed in a handicapped room on the first floor where the bathroom floor is an absolute hazard to an able bodied person and an absolute risk for the handicap. The floor is uneven, can't keep the water in the bathroom when you run the shower, even a quick shower. The tile was visibly installed very terribly. You can see where each sheet of tile is in the floor. The carpet remained soaked regardless of attempts to dry the carpet and make barriers with towels to keep the water in the bathroom. Both my husband and I got stabbed in the feet from the carpet tacking by the bathroom door just walking in there and also when trying to dry the carpet. The mattresses were horrid. Super bouncy bed and an outlet right behind the frame with the lights for the bed plugged into it. Because it is right behind the bed and the plug is smashed between the bed and wall so every tiny motion on the bed makes the lights go out. Yes, we tried pulling the bed away from it. It's a huge fire hazard. Additionally the desk chair in the room has all the fake leather peeling off and looks absolutely horrendous like it was pulled out of someone's trash. Please remodel, install showers that don't contribute to your growing mildew issue, maybe some dehumidifiers, get some new beds and furniture....or just burn it down and start over...if it will even light. At first the staff was ok at check in but then later I returned to the front desk to ask for more blankets and I was given one and told that they ran out keep in mind that I had 6 people total in our suite. In the middle of the night my wife went to go smoke and the key fob didn’t work for her to get back in so they reset it twice just for them to tell her that the door needed to be charged and for her to keep knocking on our door till someone woke up and came to the door. What kind of service is that? Shame on them for not being more helpful

So I gave four stars because the water didn’t get hot enough for my liking, I like really hot showers. The hotel was quiet and the bed was comfortable. The room was big and nice, full kitchen.

Mildew, Mold and Damp.
One of the worst hotel stays I've ever had. Checked in the room was hot and smelled of mildew and mold. Immediately had a complaint from room below that they heard footsteps and stomping, so after driving all day and unpacking my family of 7 we decided to move rooms to the 1st floor. When we got into that room it was worst then the 1st very hot mildew smell was worse, sheets were damp and my young children had issues sleeping due to the smell and condition of the room. Everyone woke up coughing and not feeling well. Apon checking out I told them the situation and was told no refunds or even discounts could be given. Will never stay or recommend this hotel in the future. For 180 dollars a night I would expect better.

This property has several issues. I have stayed here twice and the first time was OK, but this go around was significantly worse. First, I was placed in a room on the 2nd floor. The moist air and the smell of mold and mildew was overwhelming in this room. I am normally not bothered by or sensitive to this, but it was way too much here. This hotel clearly has a water issue somewhere. Second, the internet overall is really awful and slow. I was excited because this hotel actually has a wired connection but alas, it was better to just use my smartphone's hot spot than either the wired or wireless. Lastly, and most egregious, when I was here their key card system stopped working and for the last 2 days of my stay anytime i left my room I had to get an employee to come back up with me to unlock the door. There appeared to be no urgency in getting this fixed. Inexcusable and I will not stay here a 3rd time even tho I am in Ennis a lot for work and will not recommend to my coworkers either.
