"Hotel was located within a five minute walk of the town centre. Staff were really friendly and room was spacious and clean. Comfy bed, powerful shower. Breakfast choices were excellent also. Highly recommend to anyone looking to stay in rye."

"Situated right in the middle of the lovely and picturesque town of Rye The George is a beautifully restored Georgian inn with rooms. The bedrooms are spread about a number of buildings behind the main building and mine was beautiful. A good sized bedroom and a large bathroom with both a large walk in shower and a freestanding rolltop bath. I didn’t eat dinner there but if the cooked breakfast was anything to go by I’m sure the restaurant is good. Only things to be aware of is due to it’s location there are no parking facilities on site. You need to drop luggage off and then park in a public car park a few minutes away. Also due to the age and hodgepodge of buildings making up The George it might not suit those who can’t easily negotiate steps and stairs. However if you want to stay in the heart of Rye in a lovely building I can highly recommend. "

"Lovely stay on New Year’s Day after working the whole of Christmas. Staff were friendly and professional. Room was lovely and spacious with a comfortable bed and powerful shower. Informative booklet about the winery behind the pub in rooms with useful information about local walks etc. no problems at all "

"Lovely winter option. Pod was cosy and warm. Shower/toilet block was excellent. Kettle and a few tea/coffee amenities provided which was lovely. Only thing the pod could have done with was a nightstand/bedside table for glasses, phone etc as ended up using one of the fold up wooden chairs. Mattress was very soft so if you’re used to a firm mattress just make note."

"Loved our stay at The Gallivant and would definitely visit again! Due to the location of the hotel I think this is definitely more of a seasonal hotel, however this didn’t impact my opinion of it, the service was great, room was lovely and the food (both breakfast and dinner) was incredible! My only complaint is that they don’t have tea/coffee making facilities in the room, we were told that we could go to the bar for these however, they charge for them on your bill at the end of the stay which I think is very out of the norm!"

"I was on a short break away, walking in the area out of season in winter. I arrived at the hotel weary, and was greeted by staff with a really warm welcome. I sat down in the beatiful lobby area next to a roaring fire, with a drink before checking in. The room was beatifully decorated with Thai style furniture and pictures, but was full of house period features & a modern bathroom room with roomy shower. Comfy bed, tasty food for breakfast. What made it for me was the excellent staff, friendly & helpful, but not over bearing, really professional."
