"Aya Sophia was a perfect add on to our south beach stay when visiting Dar. Visiting the animals was a perfect way for our kids to see them without the crazy prices of a safari park (as a foreigner). Great rooms, gardens and the restaurant food (we ate curry) was also excellent "

"The Serena Hotel Dar es Salaam is a great facility with very friendly and hospitable staff. The only recommendation I would offer is that they consider updating their mattresses. Mine was clearly tired. But so was I, so I was able to sleep nonetheless. "

"Great location, can walk anywhere and super close to the ferry terminal. They picked us up from the bus station which I really appreciated. They even walked us down to the ferry to get our tickets. All the staff were kind. The room was spacious and very clean thanks to Martha! The bed was comfy. Very fast wifi. The only minor issue is my spouse is 195cm and couldn’t fit on the treadmill as the gym roof was too low but he could use the spin bike. Lots of equipment in the gym! Highly recommend booking this place. "

A very good Tanzanian hotel

"A very good 'Tanzanian' hotel with branches in Dar es Salaam and in the far south of the country at Mtwara. Unlike other big hotels catering for tourists from outside Tanzania, this is not part of a multi-national chain. The staff are welcoming and efficient and there is a choice of room categories. A wide 'local' selection at the buffet breakfast is a satisfying start to your day. I have never before written a hotel review (although I have stayed in many) but with this I wanted to promote a hotel I have always been happy to stay in, and one that benefits the local economy more than most others. "
