A visit to the Dallara IndyCar Factory gives you the chance to examine colorful and futuristic motor racing vehicles, often seen whizzing over the tracks of the IndyCar Series. It exhibits a range of two-seaters and classic IndyCars as well as simulators and interactive exhibits. The museum claims the IndyCar Series is the world’s fastest sport, eclipsing Formula 1 vehicles on straight runs. Get behind the wheel of a racing simulator, made up of an IndyCar model in front of a screen displaying an iRacing course.
Explore the Interactive Hall for its Touch Wall and its range of box-cart simulators. Watch a Dallara video in the theater and learn about the aerodynamics and design processes of the IndyCar models. Pass through a tunnel lined with blueprints of IndyCar designs.
Get in touch with the museum to see if you can reserve a two-seater race car to take out on the street. Legal to drive on normal roads, these cars are fitted with headlights, taillights and directional signals.
The site opens Wednesday through Saturday from morning until late afternoon. There is a fee to enter the complex, with free entry for children under age 6. The Garage Tour has an additional fee.
Find the Dallara IndyCar Factory in the district of Speedway, in the western part of Indianapolis. From the center of the city, drive west for 5 miles (8 kilometers) to get here in about 15 minutes. You can also take a bus to the complex.
