Booked a shepherds hut, didn’t really know what to expect but was comfy and the log burner was ample for a cold night. Downside was in the advert it says WiFi, this is not in the hut area, only in main building and also I didn’t read anywhere on the booking that there was no electricity in the huts, sat in the main building to charge phones. Breakfast was included in the price and my go to breakfast is always poached eggs on toast, have to say (no surprise with who owns it) the best poached eggs on toast I’ve ever had (and I’m old). I hate hidden charges, it bugs me big time, went to check out and was told I needed to settle my bill? Of course I should have known I’d get charged £3 for a glass of water with my breakfast and £4 for the table service? All very odd in my opinion, please let people know the charges, it’s not about the money it’s the fact it’s hidden.

Found the staff very rude had to ask three times for some toast for breakfast never did get it and waited half an hour just for coffee. Also everything is extra eg- £5 jist for an orange juice for breakfast and £5 just for sides with Your min meal . And also service charge for breakfast and evening meal lots of hidden extra charges beware !

Lovely, quirky and sexy main house with excellent food and service (but few digestifs and limited by glass options) but no path to our “shepherd’s” hut on rails. Wandered around in dark unsuccessfully to find shower and toilet access. Not evident this morning either. Huts did not lock, and smoke did not evacuate well so left window open overnight.

Amazing value. I realise that marco piere white owns the hotel and the expectation is Michelin dinining. But how can you expect to stay in such an amazing place and get dinner and breakfast for about£160? Definitely recommend.

Shepherds hut stay was an amazing experience, the wood burners inside and out were a lovely addition. Food was good but found the menu disappointing particularly when it came to the puddings

Stayed in the other building not the main house. WiFi didn't work and very little mobile signal. So made for not a great stay. Breakfast was ok. But A full English came at a supplement which is not great when it states breakfast included.

There were just a lot of disappointing elements here. The room hasn’t been properly cleaned - people’s belongings still under the bed and units. The room wasn’t properly cleaned during my stay, rubbish just piled up on a side unit. There was no wifi in the room. The bathroom was nice as were the trees outside.

A unique experience. Room beautiful, dining great, hotel amazing with beautiful antiques and fascinating artwork. Very quirky but wonderful. Grounds are quite overgrown but allows for wildlife . Can highly recommend staying here.

The hotel stay was good stay .The building had a charming historical vibe, although the grounds appeared slightly worn down. However, this was not a significant issue. The restaurants offered delightful meals with an interesting menu, and the food was good . The staff were all helpful and friendly, which is incredibly important. I would recommend staying in the main house, as the walk back and forth during a rainy weekend was less than ideal. Unfortunately, due to the weather, the lounge areas felt cold and unwelcoming, but it is understandable that they didn't have the fires on at this time of the year. Overall, it was a nice stay, and the location was perfect for visiting Bath and Tetbury. The toiletries provided were of good quality, and the only suggestion I have is to include bottled water in the bedrooms. Additionally, the door to the block away from the main building could use some tender loving care.

The Art of a great stay
A great experience at a very quirky and stylish hotel, that has high levels of service, interior design, artistic features within a great location, making our stay really special and enjoyable. The restaurant here is also run to high standard within a unusual setting surrounded by large plants in pots, but food here is to be savoured and enjoyed.

Not bad but be warned on hidden charges
Upon check in I was faced with having to pay out a £250 deposit “Incase of damages or theft from the room” I was told This apparently is “standard hotel practice” I stay away with work 5 nights a week and in the last year this is only the 2nd hotel to do so ,so it’s not “standard” I pleased to dinner was included in the £150 a night price , although the prices for drinks are are astronomical £5 for a lime cordial and soda water , and you have to pay for your vegetables on the meal which wasn’t explained when ordered. Just felt like there was a lot of Altria motives with this hotel and hidden charges etc , although the room was nice and spacious and clean so can’t ask for more there
