Our stay with the Holiday inn colchester was excellent! The customer service here was truly amazing, such helpful friendly staff that go completely out your way especially as it was our first trip away from home with a baby! We can’t thank the staff here enough for making our stay wonderful! A BIG thank you to Lisa at the hotel restaurant for looking after us so well at breakfast and to Debbie at the reception for being so helpful!

Eugene (on reception) was extremely helpful and knowledgeable. I am in a wheelchair and he even offered to push me back to my room. My room 139 was very clean Except for the underside of the wall mounted shower seat, which was filthy. The food wasn’t great. My husband ordered pie and mash but received pie and chips. The pie was very dry and a bit tasteless. My cheese on toast was ok. Breakfast was ok, plenty of choice. I had booked a disabled executive room, but executive rooms are upstairs! The staff very kindly made my downstairs room into an executive room by putting the drinks and treats into the room and giving us 2 free. Breakfast. Staff were all good, give them a raise, you need them.

The room was very good but the bathroom had no comfort. It was like walking into a public lavatory. For some reason it was a disability style bathroom. I'm not disabled but if I was, the sliding door would have been a struggle to open. I'm very fit and healthy and even I struggled to open the sliding door. Very disappointing.

Overall the hotel is in great shape and the staff are professional and helpful. The restaurant/bar is great and breakfast has a good variety of options for a hotel of it’s category. We’ve used the SPA which was also great. The only thing I believe could be better is the size of the double bed and quality of the sofa bed which was not the most comfortable and very noisy.

They had a wedding during our stay and apparently nothing else can take place when there’s a wedding because we waited more than 30 minutes and the chef and yet to start our breakfast order. So we canceled it. They were also painting the hallway walls during this time, so you had to be careful not to lean on anything. Half their menu was “unavailable” when ordering food

My room was spacious and had a comfortable bed, iron, desk and tea/coffee facilities. The restaurant breakfast was good with a variety of foods but unfortunately the dinner was not edible. The coleslaw was dry on top with a pool of water at the bottom of the pot and the burger was tasteless and wet. All the staff were helpful and friendly.

Lovely comfortable beds in a very clean environment, ensuring a good nights sleep. Breakfast was excellent with a choice, from a full English or a Continental with choice of Cereals,fresh fruit, yogurts, Croissants and my favourite, Pain aux Chocolate.All washed down with a selection of fruit juices and, tea & coffee. All staff from reception, dining area and Housekeeping were friendly and helpful. Disappointing 21st anniversary away
Disappointed thay jacuzzi was not working. Get told after i booked. Swimming pool sat is for non residents 8 till 12 .steam room perfect sauna was not hot . Didn't get clean towels 2nd day .The young girl that was cleaning the other rooms on the same floor, helped out with clean towels. Said she would find out why . Got a knock later but too late. Room was fine Friday. But nx day had kids next door banging about. And early Sunday morning. Got woken up.

Excellent hospitality and service! Sarah at the front desk was outstanding, always smiling, and went out of her way to make sure I was well cared for during my stay. Debbie with housekeeping was very accommodating and always greeted me. Ethan at the bar and restaurant was friendly and helpful. Breakfast was nice with lots of options, dinner was delicious, nice beer selection. The fitness area, sauna, and locker room was spacious and tidy. The pool was at the perfect temperature. I enjoyed the outdoor seating. Convenient parking. Clean, comfortable room with air conditioning. I would definitely recommend.
