"We stayed in one of the premium rooms with a balcony on the top floor. This was a wonderful feature, being able to open the door, enjoy the fresh air, and delight in the amazing views across the city of Coimbra. The pluses - the breakfast was top notch. The staff were excellent. Always helpful and friendly. Special mentions to the reception team, and the room cleaners who did out-standing work every day. We found the bed comfortable too. The minuses - we struggled to get the temperature low enough to sleep well. The fist few days the aircon system would only make warm air, and we tried leaving the window open - but the noise-levels were too awful. The reception team could centrally fix the "warm air issue" (this was actually controlled by them, despite the remote controls in the room). But even after the air-con system started making cold air, it was still too warm for us. Loved the town too. Very interesting!"

"Have no fear about booking this place. It is clean, charming, affordable and central. It is not a five-star hotel, but it is a five-star value for money. The naysayers are the usual crowd who want the Ritz-Carlton for hostel prices."

"This was a fantastic find. The property is very unique and memorable with the old pharmacy decor. It is very well located in the old town on the pedestrian street (you do have a short walk with luggage to get to the location). The room was relatively spacious for a European hotel room and very comfortable. I was concerned about noise from the pedestrian street but the shutters were sound proofed and we had no issue with noise. I would encourage any tourist to Coimbra to look at this property for a stay. Coffee, small muffins and apples were available. Although the guest house operates primarily through guests receiving and using codes to the front door and bedrooms, and so we didn’t have a lot of contact with staff, the staff we did meet were very friendly and helpful with recommendations for dining and tourist sites."

"The rooms were awesome, with arches and low ceilings but really nice. Comfortable beds and breakfast delivered to your room were great. Close to most major attractions and restaraunts."

"All amenities were conveniently available. Walking to the main shopping, restaurant, and sightseeing area was very doable and reasonably close. Recommendations provided by front desk was very informative and helpful."

"Five stars are not really adequate. Supplementing its historical charm and surrounding gardens, the Quintas staff, from reception to the artist in the kitchen are superb. A well deserved shout out to Joao and Pedro. "
