Restaurant kitchen closes after 8 pm too, but they still serve drinks and charcuterie. Some staff spoke English and it was helpful because the receptionist did not. Also the credit card machine at the reception wouldn't process Hotels.com charges in dollars (but the restaurant's card reader can do it)"

Big windows let in loads of natural light, and opening windows allowed fresh air which was nice. As some other people commented, no, they don't speak English - but it turns out the hotel is in Germany, so...
