Cheap flights to Paphos
The famous archaeological wonders of Paphos sit surrounded by wild flowers in the gorgeous countryside of Cyprus. Visiting the mythical birthplace of the goddess Aphrodite is like stepping into a more gentle and ornamental age. Yet, just up the hill, a thoroughly more modern resort bustles with luxuries and contemporary comforts. What more could you want?
When to book flights to Paphos
The weather is at its best in Paphos between June and September, when you can expect long, hot summer days and temperatures pushing into the 30s. Mount Olympus, which towers over the town, shields it from the worst of the wind and rain throughout the year. But these summer months also coincide with the peak tourist season, so you can usually expect bigger crowds and less choice when booking accommodation and flights at these times.
Paphos is also a popular winter sun destination, with milder temperatures but those trademark sunsets still making a showing. Booking flights in the off-peak season, you’re more likely to find bargains and more accommodation options.
How to find the best flight deals to Paphos
Although when you book has a big bearing on the cost of flights, it’s still possible to find cheap flights to Paphos at any time of year, even in high season. All you need is a few tips on how to search for them.
The first tip is to try and be flexible about when you travel. Many tour operators book hotels in weekly patterns, meaning certain days of the week are more popular for travel than others. If you are flexible, you’ll often find it easier to get the best flight deals. Use the ‘Flexible Dates’ option to help you search.
Paphos Airport
Paphos International Airport can be found four miles to the southeast of the town. It’s the second largest in the country and is mainly used by tourists accessing the holiday resorts in the town, as well as nearby Coral Bay and Limassol.
There’s a regular bus service to and from Paphos Harbour and limited services to the town itself. Direct buses from Limassol are also available.
If you want to travel under your own steam, then there is a car rental centre at the airport. Book in advance with Expedia and your car will be waiting for you on arrival.

How to get around in Paphos
Paphos is made up of two distinct parts: the lower town of Kato Paphos, by the harbour, and the upper town Ktima Paphos, where you’ll find the majority of the tourist accommodation. Both are small enough to navigate on foot, although many people prefer to catch the bus taking them up the hill.
There are regular bus services to other resorts, including Coral Bay. But if you want to get off the beaten track and explore some of the wilder areas in the Troodos mountains, then having your own car is a good idea. Alternatively, you can rent a bike or quad bike for a spot of off-roading.
What are the must-sees in Paphos?
The Paphos Archaeology Park is home to a number of ancient attractions, including the Houses of Dionysus and Theseus. The intriguingly named Tombs of the King features a series of carved burial complexes which once would have housed the remains of ancient royalty and high officials.
Paphos Fort was rebuilt by the Turks in the 1850s and last used by the British, and the pretty traditional village of Tala is also popular with tourists. If you’re feeling energetic, walk the paved coastal path from the Tomb of the Kings to Geroskipou Beach.
Tips for travelling in Paphos
You won’t need a visa for travel to Cyprus and can stay for up to three months without any further permission. For the south side of the island, you will need a valid passport for the duration of your stay, but if you travel to the north, it has to be valid for at least six months after your planned date of departure.
