Cheap flights to Bodrum
More than a million people each year flock to the beaches of Bodrum, making the most of its upmarket hotels, fashionable restaurants and relaxed atmosphere. With its enigmatic castle overlooking the town's charming back streets, even in high season, you can always find a quiet spot to chill out.
Main airports in Bodrum
Milas-Bodrum Airport is located around 22 miles northeast of Bodrum, and 10 miles south of the town of Milas.
With a new terminal completed in 2000, it is a modern airport with flights to and from all over Europe, especially in the busy summer season. The airport handles around 3.2 million people a year, well under its capacity, so it feels comfortable and easy to use. Food and drink costs in the airport are also very high so it's a good idea to bring your own refreshments.
There are very good Havas coach services connecting the airport and the town, usually timed to match departures and arrivals. The journey takes around 45 minutes.
You can also take a taxi, but these can be pricey so it's best to try and haggle for a good price.

How to get around in Bodrum
If you're just making the journey from your hotel to the beach and back, then walking is the easiest and most convenient option.
However, if you're exploring more of the town, or taking longer journeys, then a dolmus (a shared taxi following a fixed route) is a good idea. This is generally the cheapest way of getting around in Turkey.
There are also plenty of private cabs but these can cost significantly more – and you should agree a fare before heading off.
What are the must-sees in Bodrum?
The most prominent and spectacular landmark is without doubt the Castle of St Peter that looms over the town. It's a museum these days, and one that specialises in underwater archaeology. The castle itself is one of the best-preserved examples of medieval architecture in the world.
Another top historical attraction is the Bodrum Amphitheatre, completed in the Roman era but started during the reign of King Mausolus.
You'll also find lots of windmills along the coast, many of which were in use grinding flour until the mid 1970s.
Tips for travelling in Bodrum
Haggling is an accepted part of the culture in Turkey, so always try and negotiate a price, even for taxis. You might find that you can get a good deal if you stick to your guns or are prepared to walk away.
