Probably worst hotel I ever stayed at Pros: cold AC, mini fridge in room Cons: dirty sheets, dirty towels, dirty shower, limited breakfast with flies, birds, and bees surrounding food and drink, multiple dogs in dining area, dirty pool, dirty lounge chairs in pool area, vendors harassing when sitting beach side, no assistance with luggage upon arrival l, insects/ants/roaches in hotel room

One of the things I liked about staying at Palmarito was that they include round transportation and you don’t have to pay the Port fee since the boat doesn’t leave from la Bodeguita. The property as a whole is very nice and looks safe. However, it’s a private beach but you still have outside vendors harassing you to buy stuff just like public beaches. Lunch wasn’t great! It is a “buffet” but you can only go one time and they will do it for you! Lunch is like $40,000 cop per person. Breakfast was really good. Room and bathroom was super spacious and very clean. You have all you need. If you are staying, beach won’t be empty probably until 4pm and they close it at 6pm. Pool area wasn’t very clean. At night, was very quite and not beach vibes. Not sure if they have parties only Saturdays or certain days but during the night , you have nothing to do.

When we arrived, they did not have our reservation. I am not sure if this is the fault of Expedia or the hotel, but it was very inconvenience after traveling 8 hours to Cartagena. The place was not as picture-esque as the photos. I wouldn't suggest it as it didn't seem there was a lot of people there and we were concerned about the rooms and if they would be secure. We didn't even stay, we left because we didn't feel as safe. We were three girls through and I'm sure the staff was fine but we just wanted to feel secure.

Do not set your expectations too high for this property. When arrived it looked nice, but as the day went on the workers kept coming for your drink orders, but wouldn’t clean up the finished cups. The pool was nice, but when we asked for a towel at the front area staff said 4:04pm no more towels for the day. They stop handing out towels at 4pm, wasn’t told that.

Very friendly staff. Wonderful experience and amazing beach. Its a remote island having groups from the mainland join you during the day for fun and have a relaxing beach to yourself in the evening. You just need to be aware of the boat rides to/from the island in case you want to visit attractions on the mainland. My family loved it and would like to visit again.

Even tho cleaning lady never came to clean ( in 5 days ) I would definitely come back to this beautiful spot. Muchisimas gracias por todo!

Staff was very friendly. Very little English spoken, but we all managed. Beach was lovely. The pool was clean and well maintained. The rooms could use some updating but they were clean. Food was good and reasonably priced. Free boat ride back and forth was great to have. We enjoyed the beautiful view of Bocagrande especially when the sun started to set.

Good hotel resort for the price I would come back I would take points off for the mystery of the WiFi code that they won’t give you and the WiFi strength isn’t good as other hotels in cartagena and the prices vary when you order they don’t ever know the price untill check out ... but overall I good place to stay I recommend it also visit playa Blanca ( white sands beach) but don’t take a boat with 1 motor it’s dangerous and locals will tell you different prices to get there so I recommend getting a boat from boca grande !

Would you stay at a "hotel" that:
Has pee green pool water? Has boney, hungry dogs begging at your feet while you eat? Is overgrown with weeds and unkept grounds? Has no hot water in your room? Has bees, ants and lizards in your room? Has broken balcony tiles and railings" Has a beach cluttered with beer cans and other trash? Has a warning against walking outside the grounds? To name a few.

Great getaway
This was a very inexpensive hotel on an Island with its own beach and a pool. There are no roads or cars. The employees could not have been more friendlier, helpful, and just all and alll fantastic! The on site restaurant had really good food and was unbelievably reasonable. If your looking for an “old school” type getaway that’s off the grid and not fancy this is the place.

Nice relaxing place to escape the city bustle.
We were pleasantly surprised to find out there is a free hotel boat shuttle that picks you up in Boca Grande. The grounds are large and well kept and staff are very nice. The food is fresh and there is a well stocked bar, although a bit pricey I thought. Our room was quite large but not even a small table to put things on. We had to cut fruit in the bathroom. This would be an easy fix. This place would be good for families, couples or anyone looking for a few days of quiet.

The place grew on us
When we first got off the boat and walked in we thought we made a big mistake. But decided to rough it out. By the 3rd day we felt there was no place in Colombia that we would rather be. We saw the other review and had we listened to what we read we wouldn't have had this amazing opportunity. They mentioned the dogs, we'll let me tell you my amazing story about those wonderful dogs ! I woke up one morning around 4:30 am and decided to go lay in the hammock. As I entered the court yard about 6 or 7 little "mutt" dogs all woke up and couldn't wait to play. With their tails waging they were the most friendly and playful dogs I have every encountered in my life. During the heat of the day, they lay around as most lazy dogs do but before the sun comes up, this is their time to play. The greatest part of this experience was while you lay on the hammock, 2 or 3 of them get on their back under you and put their feet up as if to massage you. This went on for over an hour only to be interupted by the occasional local walking by the compound all 7 dogs would run to the fence and bark ferociously to protect their property, then return to my massage. This made me feel my family was extra safe sleeping here at night being protected by these mutts. Some times in life the best experiences happen when you least expect them and you actually spend enough time outside of your comfort zone to allow the experience of cultures different from what you conceder normal :) Move the roosters !

Basic getaway...a little remote
This is a stay if you want to be away from Cartagena or Boca Grande...you have to take a boat shuttle to get here. No English is spoken but Alice is kind and helpful. There is no place to visit when your out here, they do prepare a dinner for you for a extra $25,000 per person which is a little over priced for a basic meal but it was good...pork or chicken or carne. 1 or 2 nights is plenty. The walls are thin, some guy was watching TV until 4am so I didnt sleep so good that night.

Nightmare Hotel
We booked here not expecting much since only $42 a night, just wanted to get out of the city for a day without a tour. Planned to take hotel water taxi from Boca Grande and just use hotel beach and pool and not stay the night. Little boat picked us up on time, nice staff. As soon as we docked, we knew it was a mistake. Beach had garbage on it. Walked into hotel grounds - there were old rusty boats on the lawn, mangy dogs walking around, it just looked like a bad movie. Staff was super nice though. Showed us to 'room' which was just 2 beds and a TV hanging from ceiling. Went back outside, only 2 other guests who looked miserable by the dingy pool. It was just sad. We asked if they could take us back to Cartagena and there was much discussion and a lengthy phone call until we said we didn't want money back, then they were all too happy to whisk us back off the island. You get what you pay for, I understand that, but we just thought we'd have access to a decent beach & pool but not even that. I feel sorry for anyone who actually stays here.
