Staff member on night shift very friendly and helpful!
We had a wonderful stay, thankyou to all the reception and bar staff who were so helpful and attentive, and Teri for the housekeeping of our room. We would definitely stay there again.
The property is very nice. It was a walkable distance from shops and lunch. The staff were very attentive and helpful. The rooms was great for my son and myself.
Room was clean and in good condition.
Front desk staff were exceptional. Professional, helpful, friendly with all guests.
Bar staff was good. He worked well under pressure when he had to juggle many tables on his own.

Liked: Property conditions & facilities
Clean room lovely large double bed, lift to upper levels,
period fixtures and fittings, lovely breakfast menu.
Lovely place, rooms could use an update but for what it’s worth it’s cozy and easily accessible from either the main road or the short walk through the backroads. Excellent location as there’s a nice quiet 10-15 minute walk to the city centre.
Staff very friendly and accommodating.
The hotel is being refurbished atm but our rooms were very nicely decorated (& clean), as was the hotel bar area.
Free car parking on-site.
Lovely building & grounds but still close to Canterbury town centre.
Only possible downsides
- refurb of restaurant not finished yet but hotel clearly communicated this before we went...
besides, it's only 10 minute walk into town anyway which has lots of bars and restaurants.
- tea & coffee in room but no biscuits 😉
The hotel is quite old, and the water pipe in the bath leaks. There’s noticeable mold on the carpet floor, and a construction site outside makes it noisy at times. The one redeeming feature is the excellent service from the staff—they were friendly and very professional.
A friendly staff, comfortable room, affordable prices and excellent location make this a great place for a good night’s sleep in Canterbury. We could see the Cathedral tower out of our window.
